I am looking to upgrade my computer from the 128 ram 35gb 1244ghz unit i have at present

I use broadband a lot and download songs and surf the net of sustained periods. My current computer gets very slow after 30 mins and no amount of maintainance seems to sort it , so its got to go.

What is a good spec to have that will ensure i dont have to upgrade soon????.

Is 1 mb ram , 150gb hd and 3000mz good enough ??

Your advice please.

You mean 1Gb RAM.

Whatever spec. you think is good enough now certainly won't be in a few months time if you ever consider upgrading to Windows Vista. But the spec. you suggested will be more than enough for your current needs. However, for what you use your current machine for, I would save money and opt for a memory and hard disk upgrade. This will cost considerably less than a new machine.

Just a memory upgrade itself will be a great benefit (you don't say which operating system you're using).

The ideal computer spec is always being released next week, at some point you just have to buy one and hope it lasts you 4 years (ish) At the moment i'd recomend you get an Intel Core 2 Duo, with as you say at least a gig of ram and as big a hard disk as required.

I'd also wait until after Christmas, shops reduce their prices before Christmas to sell stock that's a bit dated, then there's the New Year bargains which should bring down the cost of decent spec machines.

uhh yeah that should be sufficient.

But before you go through all that you should run spy ware scans

I would start upgrading by upgrading the ram first...you should see a significant improvement with that alone...

If your downloading alot a bigger hard drive will be necessary.
