It's already set up for wireless, but I want my boyfriend to be able to use it at my house with my DSL connection. I tried just plugging it in and it told me the required software was not found.

he either needs a wireless card on his laptop ( if his laptop doesnt have one) or just use a cable and plug it into his laptop, the other goes to the router.

Plug the DSL modem into a router...that way the router will share the connection to any computer connected to it.

did you install the required software for whatever it is you plugged in?
you should do that.
