The Empire state building has the best view, but the Chrysler building is the most iconic. The stainless steel and gargoyles are awesome!

For the exterior style it has to be the Chrysler Building. For the view from the observation deck it has to be the Empire State. Both are wonderful buildings though.

Apples and oranges! The Empire State Building gives a better light show at night sense they chance the colours more often given holidays and special seasons or remembrances: like blue for the mourning of Ole Blue Eyes or red & green for Christmas! During the day it is less attractive and given the slightest cloudyness it can look a quite dull grey but then a warm tera-cotta on a good sunny day!

The Chrysler has a more interesting interior and the chevrons are a nice touch if your looking up from the street. The pure stepale is more stylish than the Empires mooring tower but the light show at night is less impressive!

They are both wonderful buildings and fantastic to look at.
From an architectural eye the art deco of the Chrysler building is just heaven, engineering wise the empire states building is in a league of its own.

So can I say both building are equal.

I love the look of the Chrysler building, its an amazing piece of architecture. I particularly like the way that the corner pieces on some of the floors are decorated with replicas of Chrysler car parts from 1929
