Where to begin?? Look into Meadowood, Auberge de Soleil, Meritage, or Silverado Resort. For cooking classes there's the Culinary Insitute north of St. Helena. Or even some nice restaurants in downtown Napa hold cooking classes. The concierge at your hotel will know where they all are. For wine tasting, there are several wine tasting rooms downtown Napa. That way you get a variety. Stop by the visitor's center in the Town Center and buy a card, it'll give you discounts at all the tasting rooms. Or just drive up 29 and back down Silverado Trail and stop at any winery! Sterling is just south of Calistoga and has a really cool tram ride to the top of the mountain for tastings and it's award winning wine. On the Trail you have to stop by Mumms for a little bubbly!

Have fun!

The best cooking class is Cooking with Julie. (you can consult her website)
If you want a real Napa Valley experience, go to Indian Springs in Calistoga. You can get a fabulous mud bath, massage, facial or any other number of body treatments.
As for wine tasting, pls. visit Domaine Chandon, Cakebread Cellars, Domaine Carneros, Mondavi, Beringer, Sterling Vineyards, Merryvale and Coppla. There are lots of tours but you would be better to rent a car and map out your trip. The Valley is not difficult to navigate but the traffic can be tough on the weekends.

You can do cooking classes at the following:

Ramekins in Sonoma (demo and interactive)
Copia in Napa (demos only)

Fairmont Hotel in Sonoma is great for a spa, or there are tons up in Calistoga & st. Helena, like Dr. Wilkinsons (very old and very famous). Auberge Du Soleil hotel is also nice, but crazy expensive.

as far as wine tasting, there are over 300 in just the Napa Valley alone. My personal faves as far as tours and tastings are Schramsberg, Mumm Napa, Domaine Carneros, Robert Mondavi (good tour, I personaly don't like their wine though), Beringer (good tour, and again, personally don't like their wine.

Have a great trip!
Thanks!

I HIGHLY recommend the Napa Valley wine Train trip, I went with my parents when I was little & all I remember is the Fantastic food & the beautiful scenery on the way there. Obviously, I didn't drink since I was about 5yrs old, but my parents had a wonderful time & I got to go too! I still enjoyed the trip & couldnt' believe how gorgeous the wine country could be. I grew up in San Jose Cali, so Napa was a beautiful shock to me. You absolutely must ride the Wine Train!! :o) Have a fantastic trip!

I typed in Cooking Classes, Napa into the Yahoo search engine and got a plethora of webpages. You might want to try that. I would probably focus on Calistoga or St Helena though...I find them nicer and the food better :)
