Ok. Let's say it's a perfect world, and the gun was never invented. Absolutely no one has one. Now, some 6' 8" muscular man comes into your home to steal everything you own, kill you, and rape your wife/sister/daughter. What exactly are you going to do to stop him?

If you have a gun, it doesn't matter how big and strong the intruder is. All you have to do is practice your shot. Wouldn't you rather face this maniac gun to gun instead of hand to hand?

I'd get a samurai sword.

Gun laws only affect law abiding citizens.

Criminals aren't law abiding therefore, for the most part, gun laws don't affect them.

Gun laws only succeed in disarming the wrong people and giving the advantage to criminals.

I have my guns, and I pity the government that tries to take them away. That's why we have the Second Amendment - so that the government has to listen to us.

Does everyone know that, originally, the Feds were NOT allowed to carry firearms? That's what the founding fathers wanted for us - freedom from oppressive government. Now these idiots want everyone to give up their guns and be at the mercy of the criminals and government.

You anti-gun wackos can live life in fear of everyone and everything and hope that the police may get there in time to save you. I believe in taking responsibility for my safety and the safety of my loved ones. Do you know that the police are not required to respond to your call in any certain amount of time - or at all? Really, look it up.

Let's say a criminal breaks into your house, you call 911, the criminal proceeds to rape your wife and beat the crap out of you, the police never come or arrive too late, you can't sue them. They are under no legal obligation to save you. NONE!

I own guns and have a permit to carry one and if an intruder came into my house I will shot to kill because this is not a perfect world and I have a right to protect my self and family.

It's not guns that kill people, it's people who kill people. The guns are just the device a persons mind decided to choose to kill some one.

If guns where not invented, people would still kill in other ways.

in a perfect world every one would own several guns
and know how to use them..men, women and child......
this is what would make criminals afraid...
the criminals were never happier when they thought the guns were going to be outlawed in the USA..they said like shooting monkeys in a barrel..our job is going to be so easy from now on out..but it never passed and the criminals were scared again..at least some were...
in a perfect world there would be no criminals....now would there..and you would still need guns....

good luck

if every law abiding citizen trained and carried a gun the crime rate would be Zero!!!! the criminals would not dare rob a store with say 5 armed guards walking up and down the isle
and that what an armed populance would be armed guards!

firstly, in your hypothetical situation, you have him kill you, so youre not going be able to do much to stop him. Also, if its a perfect world..a 6'8'muscular man is NOT going to break in, rob you, kill you, and rape them.

back on point, however, i think that guns can most certainly be in the hands of law abiding citizens. but i dont think the issue is as black & white as youre making it.

Are you treating guns differently than swords, spears, crossbows?

Is your hypothetical asking about whether all weapons should be banned? Or just guns? Are you asking about just inside the house? Or anywhere?

You're question asks a hypothetical that doesn't address the actual issues. Let's say the law was that anyone could own or use any weapon they want inside their own home, but nobody (except police) was allowed to carry any weapon at all outside their home. Would that make you happy? It does solve the problem you list in your example....

First of all, the only intentions most people have is to steal, then let them steal. A life isn't worth material things. Second of all, the majority of people getting killed is with their own gun, especially kids getting killed by guns that their parents have. Third and most of all, the thief has the element of surprise and if you get up from you lazy chair, run to get a gun, more than likely that is when he will shoot you. And most of all, people kill in anger so if you have a gun handy, more than likely you will kill your spouse. That is what happens the majority of the time. America is too obsessed about their material posessions and their rights.
