My brother is in prison and I am allowed to have books from amazon sent to him. He is 28 and I am not much of a book reader so I was wondering if someone could tell me the names of some books he might enjoy?? And what they are about...what is the best book you have ever read??? thank you!

My husband is 25 and wouldn't read - Until I got him to start the Chronicles of Narnia, by C.S. Lewis. He loved it, just like anyone of any age does. Also try books by Dean Koontz, they seem to very popular.

If he's into fiction or sci fi try The wheel of time by Robert Jordan. He has been compaired to the quality fo Tolken. He currently has 12 books out and the story is still going! Read the first 3 books before you get the New Spring (a prologue) or he will get confused on some of the events and characters. I've already read the series twice... or what is published so far. Book 12 (really 13) is going to be out in probably another yearn n a half (I hope)

Books that let you sort of "escape" for awhile would probably be good. Recently, I started reading George R. R. Martin's series, A Song of Fire and Ice, which begins with A Game of Thrones. It's a fantasy series, but it's not frilly fantasy; I think the sub-genre would be "war fantasy" or something. The books are very long and very engaging, so they will occupy him for quite awhile. I hadn't read fantasy stuff since high school because it got to seem too childish. I only started reading this one after receiving many recommendations, and I'm really liking them. Below is an Amazon link to the first book. Read about the series and check out the reviews. I think this series will really help him pass time.

Stephen King: 'DIFFERENT SEASONS' A collection of 4 stories each taking place in one season of the year.

1.Hope Springs Eternal: Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption
2. Summer of Corruption: Apt Pupil
3. Fall From Innocence: The Body
4. A Winter's Tale: The Breathing Method

I guess your brother will really enjoy the first one, it's a very wonderful story. I also enjoyed the third one, a story about childhood and friendship. Great! But i warn U: the last story is a horror story.

I don't know if he's into science fiction... but the Dune books by Frank Herbert are awesome! They are most definitely my favorite books ever. They are set in a science fiction backdrop, but the story itself is about the characters. There are some very interesting philosophical and political arguments within the their pages, too.

If you're looking for something more... uplifting. Try looking into C.S. Lewis. He's got some great stuff out there.

My brother is 27 and also not much of a reader. He likes Nick Hornby's books though, especially one called High Fidelity which was made into a film. He's an English author.

I would start by finding out what types of books he likes. The best book I think I ever read was Firestarter by Stephen King. I read it several times and I watch the movie every time it is on.

Dumas's Count of Monte Cristo. It's about a prison break. He'll love it.

He may also enjoy Terry Pratchett, but I recommend Pratchett to everyone.

Left Behind is a good book that I read around summer time. Only if he's religious or is trying to become religious, and wants to read something other then the bible, then this is for him.

Try giving him a Harry Potter book that tells about the whole story.
