No. Euthanasia -- which is one person killing another with the victim's consent -- is not legal in any state in the US.

Assisted suicide -- which is one person providing the means so someone can take their own life -- is currently legal in Oregon, but only in situations where the person committing suicide has an incurable illness and less than six months to live.

The difference may not seem like much, but it is huge. In one situation, a person kills themself. In the other, one person kills another person.

The two are commonly confused. But it's important to know the difference.

It depends where you live. Oregon allows it, no other state does. In Oregon, a terminally ill patient can request an overdose from a doctor. The doctor cannot administer the drug to the patient, they must do it themselves. They can have witnesses present, as long as the witness does not assist.

I think Oregon passed a law legalizing it but is the only state to have done so. It is against the law everywhere else in the US.

Nope, but it should be. It's inhumane to force people who are suffering to continue living. We put down animals who are suffering, but we refuse to do the same for those we love. It's a sick world.
