First off: Are you a citizen? If not you cannot vote. If you are you are starting off wrong. Do your own research, listen and learn, watch the debates on C-span when you can, find out how your representatives are voting and elucidating about the issues, call your local Dem or Rep party to see how your representative voted. Educate yourself. You cannot get an unbiased opinion from Yahoo Answers.
WELCOME TO THE U.S.A. Hope you find many wonderful friends and a happy and prosperous life.

The smartest voters don't vote for parties - they vote for individuals. Why?
1. National platforms don't always match a local platform. Example - a Democrat in California (Pelosi) is going to be very different from a Democrat in Virginia (Webb). Honestly, a Republican in Maryland might have more in common with a Democrat from California.
2. Sometimes a candidate can be so bad, that it doesn't matter what party he's in or what he claims to believe. (Mark Foley.)
You have to look at the person and know what they believe. Look at Project Vote Smart - they do good analysis of issues and candidates. www.vote-smart.org

If you have morals and family and Humanity, vote Democrat.
Well you missed the last election, but you still have 2 years to watch and learn.
The Republicans are the nationalist and in many cases far more violent-minded or tolerant of the violent-minded of the two.
The Deomcrats are by comparison less extreme and are more know for their compassion for humanity.
As an American who is more familiar with traveling abroad and meeting new Americans I would say you might prefer the Deocrats.
Thank you.Welcome to the USA!
-Jim.

Don't vote for a party. Vote for indivudals. Find a candidate that agrees with your views, that supports the issues that you want to see occur.
Don't fall into the trap that many people do, pledging support for a label or group and just mindlessly following that group's lead.
Think independently, and vote your conscience.

The election was Tuesday. Try next year.
If you believe that government should baby you from cradle to grave and treat you like a child your entire life, making many important decisions for you, vote Democrat.
If you believe that adults should be responsible for their own lives, vote Republican.

look at Bush- if you love war, blowing the money really fast and for making your weapons companies rich-
getting stuck in a country 1/10th the size of USA and spending 8 billion a month - OR 11 MILLION An HOUR
then, ...it's the republicans for you!
If you want to be part of the solution, instead part of the problem- join the Democrats - but be forewarned-
the Repubs in Yahoo Answers will start screaming and blaming others for thier lack of ability to actually resolve the problems-
they really need to scape-goat on others - just read the responses and you will be able to tell.

You're obviously not being truthful. You suggested that President Bush is guilty of GENOCIDE. I read your profile. And your 'feigned' question of who to vote for is a good example of how you're 'trying' to make people believe that you're new. The whole world knew about the USA's elections. And the whole world knows they're over.

If you just moved to America...you will not be allowed to vote for quite a while.
So just play the sidelines and watch.

. Form your own opinions and then vote, but i'd suggest the republicans if you have to, even though I'm losing faith in politics in general.
