I've heard talk that the Dems might attempt to ban conservative talk radio if they were to regain power ( which they have obviously done ). The reasoning behind this is that talk show hosts such as Rush Limbaugh and Shawn Hannity have the power to sway a close election ( mostly in the favor of the Republicans ) through the mobilization of their millions of listeners. Not that it matters to me one way or the other, but it seems that if they find the ability to do this, then they can certainly shut up anyone else they feel might threaten them. Could this be the beginning of our loss of freedom of speech? At the very least, don't you feel it would set a dangerous precedent if they were able to accomplish this? Personally, I look for them to try this. Think about it and what it might mean to you and I.

Americans who ignore such a possibility only contribute to the dangers that may lie ahead.

Of course they will. Off with the conservatives' heads! Whack, whack. Can't you just hear all of those radios turning off as we speak? Seriously, who in the world are you listening to? A wacko?

they favor to get rid of something that doesn't extra their liberal reason. They hate Fox information and Rush Limbaugh, so that they'll attempt their best to push by the fairness Doctrine ( it really is something yet honest) once they have sufficient votes to take action. each and every thing they do is one-sided (purely their area). quickly, we may have a Dictator if a Democrat receives elected as President and with a majority residing house and a Majority Senate. (call it down the tube). To Mr. Wordy: change viewpoints are heard now, as we've a loose Press.

I would like to see the media laws that were changed, changed back. Reagan, just before he left office signed the (fair media act) which wasn't fair, it used to be all TV had to give the same amount of time to both the left and the right, which is fair, any side that doesn't want you to hear the other side does not have your best interest at heart I believe, Then Bush Jr signed another media law unrestricting the amount of media can own in one market, which is not fair , Typically in a good enviorment, you have checks and balances put into place, which in turn, the far left will cancel out the far right and you meet in the middle. I would not want all far left or far right media ownership, you need to hear both sides, anyone that takes that away is dangerous!!
Being Democratic means fair and open discussion.

While tempting it's really not the Dem way. They may however put more teeth in the libel and slander laws and would probably accomplish the same thing as these shows wouldn't survive without slandering a Dem every 10 seconds.

They're not looking to ban conservative talk radio the way armed forces radio has banned some progressive programming. What is being discussed is re-instituting the fairness doctrine. Limbaugh, Hannity and the rest are tilted severely to the right and most of the "truth" they espouse is severely biased. The fairness doctrine would require radio stations to provide alternate view points on political issues. I'm in favor of bringing back the fairness doctrine.

The last I heard freedom of speech has not been banned. The conservatives were not hurt when Clinton was in office. Both Republicans and Democrats are free to express whatever they feel. Too bad they don't have to back up what they are saying and the 'sheep' take what they say as gospel truth.

I would think the Dems would encourage it-Bush met with a round table of TV/Radio wackos-alot of people listen to these people (entertainment) but they don't want to base their future on them. They sure didn't help in the election-Sean-RUSH for example-neither one a veteran-walthy -very predictable-kinda like a cheap sitcom...sorry but just being truthfull

NO, the DNC and the democrats will and can be sued for violation of Freedom of Speech!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It would definitely set a very dangerous precedent for this
country if that were to happen and would be the demise
of the democratic party.

and for you saying they are spouting biased news. The problem with that is its not news it editorial. Hence the name TALK RADIO. Not News Radio. this is an attempt to stop opinions not false news.
