Bird feathers are naturally grit resistant, but even so, birds spend time brushing off the dust.

Most mammals that are white spend time grooming, licking their fur. Polar bears swim :)

Animals have excellent grooming habits and spend a lot of time preening themselves, unless of course their natural defense is to be dirty for camoflage or hiding their scent.
