i am from england and my mum is half black and half white and my dad is half black and half white. i consider myself mixed rcae, but i have heard american people on boards say if two mixed people have a child together, it makes the child black. that is stupid as far as im concerned. they think only people with a white mum and black dad is mixed race. if a mixed person has children with another mixed person, then the genes are still there. the same way if two chinese people marry each other. but if a mixed person marries a black or white, then the genes will have washed away slightly. what are your opinions on what i am?

A person. A human.

In time, the majority of people on the planet will be of mixed race. Being of mixed race is beneficial since you receive more dominant genes. The recessive "impurities" of inbeeding among a single race are reduced.

In California, we would probably refer to you as mixed, mixed-race, or biracial.
However, given our long history as "underdogs" and "cultural mutts," many Americans consider it cool/hip/better to be a minority, so even if they have only a small percentage of a certain race in their background, many people are eager to identify themselves with that group. So a person who may be only a quarter or an eighth black might classify themselves as black.
Personally, I'm happy to consider people whatever they want to be classified as - whether it's a pale-skinned person who wants to recognize their black ancestry, a man who wants to dress and live as a woman, or a recent immigrant who wants to be accepted as an American.

In America; terms such as Creole, Cajun, and Mulatto have been given. However; I would call you by your First and Last name. You have the right to embrace both cultures. In as much, I believe Americans are the only nation that wants to referrer to its people by any other classification than Americans.

You are biracial. Plain and simple. Just curious though, do you and your siblings have the same coloring or is there some variation?

I call 'em people...just like I call everyone else people. Or by their name. That works well if I'm trying to get their attention.
