I had a psychometric test and an initial interview today for a job I really, really want. The interview went well, but I think I did really badly in the psychometric testing, and I screwed up a really important question. I have to wait a week to find out if I have been selected to go on to the next set of interviews. I know if I get the interview I can get the job, but I am really worried about the psychometric test. What are my chances of getting the interview?

Psychometric testing is only an indicator. Best impressions are given within 7 seconds of entering the interview situation. Most people still use 'Gut Feeling' to choose a candidate... so forget the psychometric test...

Unfortunately, none of us know the answer. You did the initial interview and it went well..I would think it would have more weight than the psychometric testing. Just wait the week and follow-up with a call or e-mail reiterating your interest, if you are not contacted. Try to keep positive and apply to other jobs so you don't think too much about it. I guess all of us job seekers can only just try our best and hope.

But, I totally know what you mean...I wanted this job a lot..and i waited like 3 weeks after the in person interview..then they finally told me they were looking for another candidate pool...it was a tough to take!

I really hope you get the second round interview. Good luck.

I've just had an interview for a PA/Administrator which required me to prove my computer and typing skills. I've got quite a lot of experience in several fields but the one thing they asked me to do...I've never done and consequently they aborted the test. I went on and just enjoyed myself in the interview as I'd decided I had nothing left to lose....consequently I shone and got the job a week later.
The manager said that at the end of the day this particuar document could be taught to me in less than a minute and would take only five minutes a week to produce...the rest of the time he'd be living with my personality.
I guess if you've done your research and shown them that you are genuinely keen they're not just going to dismiss you out of hand.

Good luck...i hope you get the job x

It is a waiting game, don't stress about it!!! I stress a lot, so I know how hard it is not to. Just remember there is nothing you can do now so just let it go. Could of should of...is too late after the fact. All you can do is learn from this experience and incorporate it next time. :)

Good luck on the job!!!

I'm afraid you have to just wait and see.
I remember interviews that i thought went well and i didn't get the job and vice versa.
