I don't think any animal see's in black and white, more likely in a more saturated colour pallete. I have known in the past of dogs that can tell the difference between colours, even shades of colours. Why would any animal see in black and white when there are so many colours in the world. I think those who do not rely on colour to find food, such as owls, don't need to see colour as vividly.

Most mammals, apart from primates, do not have colour vision. They don't necessarily see in black and white though. They just do not have as many colour receptors as other animals. They are more focused on seeing movement and shape.

Many fish can see colors (e.g. Phoxinus, Crenilabrus). Some amphibians can see colors (frog: Rana temporaria, toads: Bufo bufo, some salamanders) and they usually have two pigments. Most reptiles can see colors (snakes, turtles). Birds: general rule: birds that are active during the day can see colors, but birds that are acitve during the night cannot. Mammals are generally bad in color vision. Examples of color-blind mammals are rats, hamsters, rabbits, and dogs. Cats are weak, but can see some colors. Mammals that are quite good are guinea pigs, sheep, zebra, horses. Also some invertebrates are able to see colors. Some Cephalopods (e.g. sepia, but not octopus). Crabs are generally good in color vision. Many insects (all beetles, hymenopterans (bees, wasps, ants), homopterans (ture bugs), and all flies. All insects are unable to see red light (only known exception are ants), but some are able to see UV (ultraviolet) instead.

Cats see color although not quite like we do. They are color blind-meaning they "confuse" shades of red and green. Blue hues are the clearest while reds, greens, browns etc are not.
