Some doctors that caffeine in amounts greater than 300 mg./day can increase your risk of miscarriage by causing the baby's heart to be overworked. But you'd have to drink approx. 6 cans of soda a day to get 300 mg.

The calories aside (1 can a day means about 5-9 lbs a year of weight gain)...

Carbolic acid in ANY carbonated pop destroys magnesium. Magnesium is essential for proper heart function and bone development. Under some conditions, it can create soft bones.

There are some signs that some of the otehr chemicals (in regualr AND diet pop) can interfere with other vitamins, minerals, and trace elements in the body.

The sugar load causes mild dehydration. It takes roughly 3 cans of water to cancel the effects of 1 can of pop.

Caffine could be an issue, but probably not in those doses... except that your child MIGHT be more caffine dependant or resistant than normal- studies on this are not very complete yet.

Bottom line: You are drinking a lot of a chemical brew that has absolutely no benefits for you and plenty of red flags, if not actual health issues.

It probably won't affect the baby much, but I'd sure cut down.

I've read in numerous different publications that a pregnant woman can safely consume two cups of regular (not expresso!) coffee each day and not have it affect the fetus. Soda has less caffeine per fluid ounce than coffee, so you're probably doing fine.

I used to be a heavy coffee drinker, but since becoming pregnant, I've cut back to hot tea twice/day. It has far less caffeine and I get the same warmth I'm looking for.

I've included a caffeine reference in the source so you can have some idea of how much you're consuming.

I have two girls and I drank Pepsi during the entire pregnancy. I drank over 20oz a day and both of my girls are perfectly normal and healthy. In fact, my oldest ranks in the 3-4 year old range as far as her being smart and advanced. She is 2. I think drinking pepsi is just fine, my doctor never saw a problem with my caffeine intake either.

Some doctors believe that caffeine is unhealthy for babies in the womb. I would just ask your doctor what their thoughts on this are. Certainly other women have done far worse things while carrying their children, and they have been healthy. I would not think that a bit of pop, coffee, tea, or chocolate would be a problem.

Best of luck to you.

They say that having one or two caffine drinks a day is ok for the baby. I stopped being able to drink soda because the gas hurt my stomach. My sister drank coke all through her pregnancy, and a lot of it. I have to warn you tho, that's one of the reasons she gained 60lbs. So.... you might want to switch to diet, just in case. Congrats!

I consider ingesting healthful, yet i do not agree you may eat something. do not eat raw meat or perhaps chilly lunch meat. chilly lunch meat can carry a bacteria that motives listeria, that you wade through from and your toddler. also, you're literally not meant to eat tuna, because it has a severe mercury content. you're also meant to diminish before on caffeine (iced tea, warm tea, soda, and chocolate) purely watch how a lot you eat of stuff and make confident you're nonetheless a minimum of walking for 0.5-hour prevalent, if not doing different being pregnant probability-free workouts. Plus, you purely favor an further three hundred energy extra for your daily weight-loss plan (yet if you end up actually not hungry sufficient to eat that a lot extra yet, do not rigidity your self to)

Caffiene can cause miscarriages but you can drink up to six cans a day and still prolly be ok. One or two cokes is not really going to affect your baby.
