I have a front porch that I love! It's covered, but the sides are open, with a rail around it.

Looking for idea to decorate for Christmas. Besides the normal Wreaths and stuff, I want some awesome crafty decorating ideas.

Suggestions?

A rocking chair with a big teddy bear or toy boy in P.J's
surrounded by stacks of big presents (stove size ) with giant bows. If you have support beams, presents stacked up(maybe Styrofoam) with the post in the middle. Ribbons
draped around-lights all around.Door outlined in greenery & ornaments with all your family's names on them and out side the porch rail a sign that says"WITH LOVE FROM THE SMITH FAMILY"

How about train set with elves on it leading to gifts on one rail. On the Other rail have a Xmasy trail leading a talking or Singing Santa on
the other rail and your porch steps could be made to look the floor of Santas Work Shop
wouldn't that all stand out from the normal thing?

I have found a novel idea that really draws a lot of attention. Around 20 years ago I began laying out the best Nativity "scenes" I could. Not having a lot of money, I was restricted a bit, but I continue to add a little something here and there, and when people come over they are amazed that they hadn't seemed to think about including Christ on His birthday. It seemed such a simple and obvious thing to do, and so little seem to think about it. And I wasn't more than a "C" student until I got in my first graduate school program. It's so simple and obvious that it seems to surprise people. God, as in Jesus Christ, Bless you.

How about a snow flake theme. Hang different size snowflakes from fishing wire so they appear to be floating all around the sides of the porch... and use clear icicle lights all around the porch to give it a nice touch.

I would say use small white x-mas bulbs to outline your porch! And se potted flowers and or other christmas decorations around the porch! keep it simple, will make it WOW! GOOD LUCK!

I agree with RandyD, but Nativity scenes look beautiful when they are decorated with peat moss, and the like, you know a desert kinda place. I remember in mexico that is the biggest thing and I saw once a beautiful realistic water fall and lake made with old mirrors.

I think a snowflake scene or some kind of snowy scene would look really great.
