Since the formation of the BCS have the traditional bowl pairings been declared null and void. do the big 10 and pac 10 teams still go to the rose bowl, the big east champ to the orange, sec champ to the Sugar and the big 12 champ to the Fiesta?

The Big Ten and Pack 10 are guaranteed at least one team in the BCS games. If the Rose Bowl is not the Championship game, AND the two teams from in the Championship game are not from either conference, then the Big Ten Champ and Pac 10 Champ play in the Rose Bowl.

HOWEVER,

say for instance Ohio State makes the Fiesta Bowl (National Championship Game) this year. Since they would be representing the Big Ten, the Rose Bowl would not be required to have another Big Ten team in it. However if this were to be the case for this year Michigan would still qualify for the BCS and in all likelyhood play in the Rose Bowl.

This works the same with all of the other Bowl games.

I tried to give you the best answer I could and I hope you understand what I am trying to say.

Hey everyone guess what they have a title game all alone now so the big 4 bowls wont host a title game again. The bowls still have their major tie ins with the conferences and if the winner of the pac-10, and big 10 are not in the title game they will go to the rose bowl like wise for all other bowl tie ins.

However if a conference champion is not ranked in the top 16 of the BCS then the bowl that was suppose to get that champion will choose another team out of the top 16. So if say the winner of the ACC is ranked below Boise State and Boise State is top 16 they will most likely get their bid.

With the title game being seperate now most bowl pairings will remain traditional for conference champions, unless they are playing in the title game.

The AJC. (Hat Tip BSD) wrote this... Utah, Boise State to the Rose Bowl? It would occur quickly: Over the path of the week I learned that there's an intriguing little nugget within the new BCS agreement with ESPN, on the way to start after the 2010 steady season. In beyond contracts if the Rose Bowl misplaced considered one of its conventional companions, the Big Ten or Pac-10 champ, to the BCS championship recreation, it would easily fill with a further Big Ten or Pac-10 group that certified. That’s how a nine-three Illinois group received to Pasadena 2 years in the past. But within the new agreement, I’m advised, there may be an intriguing clause: The first time within the deal that the Rose loses considered one of its champions to the BCS name recreation, that starting can be robotically stuffed by way of a Coalition (non-BCS convention) group if one has certified. For instance: Let’s say Southern Cal wins the Pac-10 and qualifies for the BCS championship recreation in 2010. And permit’s say Utah or Boise State is going undefeated once more the wins the Mountain West or WAC. That group, if it doesn’t get into the large recreation, could robotically cross to the Rose, in which no Coalition group has performed earlier than. What’s the value of this, you ask? It is a further method that the BCS is growing entry of the 5 Coalition meetings to the entire video games in process. Should the BCS get sued and hauled again earlier than Congress, it's a further method it could actually counter the declare that the Coalition faculties don’t have ample entry.

No, the traditional pairings are still played except when it's the Rose Bowl's turn to host the National Title game and etc. In other words, if it's #1 vs. #2 in the Rose Bowl and neither 1 or 2 comes from the Pac 10/Big 10, that's too bad.

Yes, the set up stays the same unless 1 of those teams is playing in a BCS game which would then put the alternate team from that division in the game. Remember that the BCS title game rotates every year, that would also impact things.
