i have a major problem keeping my room clean and its so bad i dont even know how to start. my closets have literally emptied themselves onto my floor (with a little help from me of course) so anyways i go in all motivated but then i find a note, a book, a picture, theres always something that grabs my attention. so a room that should take maybe 3 hours (and im serious) to clean takes 5 because i read a book in the middle of it. my rooms not dirty its messy. clothes, shoes, papers, books. im 18 and ive always been messy but its kinda getting out of hand. so anyhow. any ideas. tips. ways to stay occupied. maybe even a little neater. i tried the whole clean it every night before bed thing but it dont work...

Glad to help. get some garbage bags 1. make your bed 2. pick up everything that needs to be put away and put it on your bed. Clean clothes on one end. garbage in bag.3.dirty clothes go in a pile outside your door.4 if anything needs to go to another room place it outside your room. DO NOT LEAVE THE ROOM. 5. put the clean clothes on the bed away. 6 put the rest of the stuff away-make sure everything has a place where it belongs- 7. go around the room starting at the door work right to left around the room and top to bottom dusting and straightening and throwing the garbage away. vacuum or sweep then take care of stuff in hall. Now set the timer and see how much of this you can do in 20 minutes. PLay some music and get going. Good luck you won't believe how easy this is. Get rid of stuff you don't need.

Organization is the key to cleanliness. First, go to Wal-mart, or any dollar store or such, and purchanse some storage boxes, bags, or whatever you prefer. Also get a couple of hampers for your room. First go into your room with a garbage bag, your storage boxes and two hampers. Throw away anything that you do not need/use. Take everything out of your closets, dressers under your bed, etc. Place these items that you do not throw away in respected storage boxes. Such as have one for books, one for photos, etc. You get the point. Move these out of the room for the time being. Put in your clothes hampers and get to smelling, whites go in one, colors in the other (those that are dirty clothes) When you have everything picked up and put in the right place, get a vacuum and go over the carpet, (and if you have a steam cleaner, now will be a good time to use it) Dust off using a good duster and spray nightstand, furniture, etc. Hang up clean clothes, put in dresser clean clothes. Put the storage boxes stacked up in your closet or in a corner in your room, if you want label each one.
When you get this all done, and notice how clean and organized it is, get into a habit of not throwing stuff on the floor. When you take your clothes off put them in the right hamper. When you get a book, picture, etc put them back when you are done.

alright, well you of course know theres no excuse for not keep one room clean... anyway, for dirty clothes put a laundry basket on the floor and when its full/end of week, put it in the laundry room and switch to clean basket. vacume at least once a month, that way you have to pick up things on the floor. jsut at the end of the week do lil thinkgs one ata time like put all the pants on hangers and then shirts. then make your bed and pick up all the clothes and put them where they go, like the basket. then run a vacume over the floor. if dusting is a problem... try swiffer dusters and for shelfs use clrox wipes. remember when your cleaning, dont think of the whole room that your cleaning, think of one thing at a time, and pretty soon all of it will be clean!

You need to minimize.
Get rid of the things you do not use on even a monthly basis. This excludes seasonal wear like boots and snow pants. Instead, get space bags (the kind that shrink down with a vaccume) and store seasonal clothes under your bed.
Get a nice closet organizer. Use it. Clean rooms aren't cleaned, they are maintained. Force yourself to put it where it belongs, instead of throwing it wherever because you haven't got time. It really saves you time overall to do this, because you won't have to waste 5-6 hours every 4 weeks to clean it.

Start out by making piles toss, keep and donate. Then decide what you can live without, and item by item go through and physically touch each item and ask when did i use this or need this last? If it has been over 6months then you dont need it and its just clutter. Get a good closet organizer and try to live life with just your basic things. Its not a bad thing to have alot of items in your life but it does make it more difficult to keep things tidy. Good luck.
