Pot dealers don't make much dough, 99.9% of them sell it to their buddies to pay for their own smoking, because you have to move hundreds of pounds to make a living with it. It's not like coke, where you can move a single pound of it, and then buy a new car.

The growers would lose a bit, but not as much as you'd think, even for the premium stuff, because they'd increase their yields and keep selling it. People will always pay for the convience of someone else doing it, especially for the awesome bud those folks can generate. The growers are pretty far down on the list, it's the folks that bring it over the boarders that are the ones banking, and they'd lose out big time.

The absolute BIGGEST losers would be the private prison companies that would lose 1000's of 'guests'. Anything related to enforcement would be big too...however, the enforcement agents would be able to use their time arresting more violent offenders, and concentrate on people smugglers at the boarders.

The alcohol companies would be among the biggest losers. Beer, wine and booze producers/distributors would be hit hard.

Next would be big pharma.

The other industries wouldn't be affected to terribly much, at least in relation to the above.

However, Sara Lee and Hostess would see considerable gains ;-)

The Government and serious drug traffickers would lose the most money. If it was legal, then everyone could grow it in their backyards if they wanted to and it wouldnt have any real economic value. Even though its illegal, the government still makes money off of it. Its a set up anyway: When there is a drug bust, what do the police do with the weed? They put it back on the streets to catch more people. Drug dealers would lose profits because people would already have it.

I think it would be a toss-up between the people currently selling the stuff (at a premium since it's illegal) and the companies producing the technology used by law enforcement to find the stuff.

The pharmaceutical companies wouldn't lose a cent. They'd just base better drugs on improved variations on the natural compounds like they always do.

Not just the pharmaceuticals cos but also law enforcement which are primarily people who want to control others. There's a lot of tax money spent on these guys flying the latest helicopters and using aromored vehicles, expensive toys for them to play war with and harass people with.

Yep, been asking this same question. Firstly OIL companies would hurt, they are the most powerful.

It's a sick world, when the greedy needs of the unjust, unlawful 'few'; get to dictate "law" on adults, self-medication.

One love, keep asking those questions.

government, obviously. yeah, everyone else, dealers, pharmaceutical bigwigs, mexico, and others; but, the US government is getting a huge chunk out of all of those on top of its own citizens in fines and free labor. they also make money from taxing paper industries and their employees. this is a long chain of government and its special interests. all very sad. special interests before private citizen's interests. as far as they see, the only people to benefit from cannabis' legalization are US citizens, needless to say it, isn't on their list of things to do.

I think the United States Department of Agriculture would lose because they pay subsidies not to grow anything to farmers where the money made from hemp and hemp products would be incredible. Hemp can become Americas number one cash crop, and not becasue of the pot smokers, but for manufacturing alone.
