It is called compassion fatigue.

You are not horrible, you just have an accurate sense of what parts of the news are important to you. There are thousands of either people who die everyday around to world but you don't hear about them either. Also, the liberals that control the media would like to paint the picture of Iraq being a complete disaster as much as they possibly can so they are going to report every casualty, death or wounding they can find out about. At the same time you don't hear about the testimony from the Saddam Hussein trial of his mass murder of Kurds because that would help justify the war. You do hear about the verdict but then you hear 8 stories about how other a selection of more liberal countries reacted to the verdict, generally that they disagree because of the death penalty or any number of reasons. Democrats used this media attention to effect the election. Luckily, the election is over so the coverage may turn to other areas.

Maybe not horrible but maybe a little insensitive. It is a little understandable too. We do hear about it a lot and our troops are trying to "help". Its hard to care about every single thing. You can not let the world overwhelm you. Its ok. All you have to do is what you think is best. If you want to care a little care, if not dont. Things will work themselves our on a grander scale one day anyways. Plus I try to remember Im one person, if I am doing what one person can then thats good. We cant all be mother Teresa, just try our best.

By the looks of your Q and A I think your are young, used to hearing about it (does not seem real to you) and your are thinking a lot about boys. As you mature, you may "care" more about others and their suffering or triumphs. Fighting has been going on in the Middle East for a very long time, so no worries, when you get older, you will still be able to read about it.

Funny, isn't it? We Americans "care" more about Britney Spears' new baby, or Christie Brinkley's divorce than we care about world events. We've become calloused to murder, mayhem, rape, and violence because we observe so much of it on TV. We don't "care" because we don't live with the realism of such carnage.
The most tragic - and revealing - thing about your question is your closing statement: "they die everyday, anyway."

You can't fret over everything going on in the world. I say save your real concerns for what's happening in your own community right where you live. You can't do anything about the people in Iraq but you can be effective in your own back yard.

Do you not care or are you just tired of hearing about it especially when you can't do anything about it. Iraq is in the trows of civil war if they want to admit it or not. People die in war especially when it's fought on the streets,

As a human being such horrible deaths should stir your heart and you feel pity for those souls.

i care .. i think its really unfair for them to have to live like that..

were very lucky to live the way we live over here...

maybe if we all didn't act so hoety totety.. all the time they wouldn't bomb us to make us see how they live every day..
