Yes, for Internet Explorer (IE) and Firefox. They remember the last few web sites and allow you to get back to them by clicking on the back-arrow button. The sites you went to (technically, their uniform resource locaters or URLs) are stored in a history so that you can go back and forth through the list. The history is stored permanently (in the registry, I believe) so that it will be available even after the browser exits, if you know where to look. The recent typing - auto complete feature uses the URL list to suggest completions when you type. The history can be flushed in both browsers, and frequent deletion of the history is one of the most obvious signs around that someone is going to porn sites and doesn't want anyone to know. To flush history in Firefox: From the Tools menu select Options, select Privacy along the top, and click on Clear Now. If you;re really paranoid you can click on "Always clear my private data when I exit Firefox." To flush history in IE: From the Tools menu select Internet Options, select the "Privacy" tab on the top and click on the "Clear History" button. In addition to the history tracked locally by the browser, web sites may request the storage of "cookies" on your PC. Your account name and preferences are often stored here to allow persistent preferences that automatically are applied the next time you come to the web site. You can flush your cookies in both browsers as well, but loosing cookies will frequently cause problems on some web sites. Forcing you to log-in again, losing track of settings and preferences that took you a long time to get just right: flushing cookies can be mildly annoying or even an expensive mistake, depending on what web sites you frequent and how important they are.
