Have you called any of the businesses where you've put in an employment application yet? If not youre making a big mistake.
Calling them further expresses your interest in the job and brings your application and name to their mind. **Do not call them if they specify not to!**. However if they dont specify this, give them a call!
Inquire about your application and the job over the phone. This is a smart move and works very well. Be sure to do this about 1 to 2 weeks after you've put in the application. Timing is important.

Depending on what type of employment you are looking for, your writing may disqualify you. If you are seeking office employment in an English/American company, you would likely be passed over for poor communication skills.
If you want help in that area, consider going to http://www.monster.com/ They have a forum that will allow you to discuss your resume with experts and others. People there will help you make your resume look and sound professional. I recommend it for anyone that has problems writing, or speaks English as a second language. Sometimes the verb tense and word translations don't interpret exactly.

If you sent your application form off 6 months ago its likely you havent got the job.
However, there is no harm in phoning the company and asking them. Although leaving it 6 months be a bit late.

Application forms are used to screen potential employees, only suitable candidates are called to an interview. If you did not hear back, you were not considered suitable for the post you applied for.

You can call the company to find out what has happened. So many companies are dealing with hundreds of applications they simply haven't got the resources to respond to them all

you have to change the applications from time to time. I had to add so much BS to mine to get results - it makes me puke bragging and BS like that but it works - try books on expert resumes - professional etc - use a book to do it and do it from your heart. Not some crappy peice of crap that the government employment counsellor shoves you just to get you out of the office - do your own from your heart

Is is possible the positions applied for were filled? I'm sure a call to the places you applied could answer that question then you'll understand why you've not heard anything!
