Im 12 weeks today and over the last few weeks have been really suffering with my back. If i stand too long it aches, if i sit too long it aches!! Should I be suffering from backache this early in the pregnancy?? Not sure if i should go to doc or just live with it as part of the pregnancy? anyone else experienced this, this early?

I would say you are dehydrated. At this stage in pregnancy if you have an achy back i would suggest drinking as much water as you possibly can. I g\have patients that come in all the time between 12-18 weeks that are hooked up for iv fluids. You can take 1000mg. of tylenol every 4-6 hours but you need to drink, drink, drink. Believe me this will help more then you would ever think.

You should be due to have a scan so after you normally see a midwife. Ask her it's best to check. I have had backache for ages which started early on try not too worry. Everyone is different it may be that you will suffer from this throughout your pregnancy.

Thank you for asking this ?
I have been having back pain from last week
and I am only 4 weeks
you can not imagine how scary it is I keep thinking that I would loss the baby, my doc told me to stay in bed (that the only time that my back feel better) I also have fever every night
I would recommend that you rest as mush as you can try not to seat straight for long
by the way my husband schedule acupuncture for me starting today I am hoping that will help
my husband has been using acupuncture for Asthma, & back pain

Good luck

Yes it is from the pregnancy hormones. Backache is an early pregnancy symptom and often continues throughout pregnancy.

yes it is from the pregnancy hormone relaxin (sp?) It make your pelvic loose so the baby can come out. unfortunately it does this with all the joints in your body and since your back has more stress and weight to carry now this is where you feel it most. I had the same thing with my daughter.

I noticed that when I didn't drink enough water, my back would ache. Try drinking at least 8-10 glasses of water.
