For personal reasons my husband and I cannot use contraceptives. We really can not afford to have another child right now. But I can't deny him sex, either. We make too much money to get any type of social service but we would go bankrupt if we have another kid. Does anybody have any advice? I feel like only people with money should be allowed to have sex but how is this fair?

What about people who don't use contraceptives for religious reasons?

And to be clear, I don't want to go on welfare I am pretty snobby, despite being broke. I think I am too good for welfare and I know that there are many people less well off than me that deserve it and aren't getting it.

Welfare started with the Social programs instituted during the depression when there were a lot of genuinely poor people who had a real need. It was expanded greatly during the 60s with LBJ's "war on poverty".
If you don't believe in artificial birth control, use natural methods. If that doesn't work then, since you were doing it for Religious purposes, you will know and accept the gift of a child as God's will. There are a lot more important things than maintaining a lavish lifestyle and more important things than material goods. I think that you already know that.
My parents had 10 children (Catholic). We didn't have a lot of money, however we had family and love that was worth much more than money, a nice car, expensive clothes, or the latest biggest color TV and stereo. My Dad worked hard, we never went on welfare, and we were happy. Today we have the greatest gifts of all, faith in a loving God and a joyful loving and close BIG family. Whatever God wills for you, be grateful.

There are many different contraceptive methods available.

Your best bet is to put those personal reasons aside and come to an agreement on which method to use.

Sterilization is the most effective of course.

Welfare should be for those in need - not those that want sex without using protection, knowing that they cannot afford children.

Try using the Billings Ovulation Method. It is safe, effective, and totally natural birth control. Or, there are always condoms. Why don't you do that?

Secondly, you can afford another child. It is a question of re-prioritizing your finances. You may not be able to afford the european vacations, the third car, the shopping sprees, fine dining, the time share, the boat and throwing lavish parties. But, I am sure you can afford a child. Millions of families who are less well off than you are doing it.

My husband and I have been practising natural family planning for over ten years, with no surprise pregnancies. We have only one child. You must have regular periods and the ability to keep very accurate records and understand your body in order to do this, but it is possible. Talk to your doctor and research it online. Most likely, though your best option is to consider getting a vesectomy and tubal ligation if you really can not afford to have anymore children. For now, it may help to have faith in yourself as parents, just in case. If you do get pregnant, you will simply have another child- you will not be ruined.
As to the rest of your question about welfare, Social Services is there to help families in need for a variety of reasons. Communities with effective human service and welfare programs have much lower birth rates, because of the counseling and education available to sexually active people. It is just the way we are designed that our pleasures and rights come with consequences and responsibilities.

Welfare was not started, it evolved out of need to take care of workers that did not have pensions but worked all their lives and became too old to work. Later it evolved into paying people who needed temporary assisstance or were too lazy to work. Get your tubes tied and have your eggs frozen. Your last question at the end is preposterous. Social Service was not intended to pay for your luxury of having children. I do not know how you would think that that is the case in any situation.

Because of your personal reasons you cannot use contraception. So you want welfare so I can pay for you to have unprotected sex and make more babies. I do not want to pay for your children. Get over, get around, do something about contraception. Either protection or no sex. That is all the answer you need.

You have a choice. If you do not want a child, no sex. Cannot change nature. If you do not make enough money, go and get a better job, another job, or start your own business.

We all have choices.

I chose a house over health insurance for a few years.

wow, that is some twisted logic. Wefare started so you could have kids? Only people with money allowed to have sex? If you can't do contras-- look into natural forms of contraception (not very reliable mind you)

No, welfare was started to be a (supposed) helping hand to those who were poor. Its not intended to finance your family planning.

One of you should get your tubes tied. Otherwise use the pull out and pray method, but having a child you cannot afford is irresponsible.

You have a couple of options:

- naturual child planning; meaning you only have sex when you are not fertile. It is extremely effective IF DONE CORRECTLY.

- give him oral sex, hand jobs, and/or allow a little back door action.
