I was really surprised to hear the Senator from Nevada sounding very bipartisan and like he was looking forward to working together with the Republicans - but Nancy? She's really sounding strident/inflexible. Does this worry anyone else? Would it make more sense for the Dems to choose someone else?

(In case it matters to you, I'm third party.)

It's impossible for a zebra to lose his stripes but I want to be optimistic enough to hope she will realize that she now represents the entire U.S. and not just San Francisco. If she does not work with Republicans and conservative Democrats she will swing open the door wide for another Republican takeover.

No because all the leadership does is set the agenda and I am confident that this leadership will be open to all points of view. Afterall, there is a realization that if a piece of legislation is going to pass it does have to appeal to the White House. Additionally, while Pelosi may be from CA remember that Harry Reid is actually quite a conservative pro-life senator from Nevada.

I haven't gotten a good idea of where she really stands. I've not been impressed with her as of yet and do have a bit of a concern that she may be a bit to liberal.

As PHD notes, we could see quite a few investigations. But that is congresses job-- oversight of the executive branch and other areas. So, hearings and getting facts on actions are part of their job.

she has said she'll be bipartisan etc. etc. but I'm sure she and bush will butt heads as this new working arangement gets going.

i'm afraid because of what befell there that the authorities is rather going to commence taking extra administration. First what i imagine they're going to do is come across a thanks to get rid of community voters guns and finally i extremely hate to assert this yet our authorities turns into like the starvation video games Capitol. i'm not putting forward they're going to make us strive against to the shortcoming of existence, etc., yet I do imagine that the authorities is going to get very strict because of that fool. yet i don't believe of the authorities turns into extremely strict a minimum of for some generations so your probability-free.

Pelosi worries me as well because she, earlier this morning, promised that she would begin as many investigations as she could. She has no plans to better America and help mend the partisan rift, but instead has plans to try and further hurt the GOP. Any politician who wants to harm our government makes me sick, whether they are Dem or Rep it doesn't matter. I think she is far more left than her constituents and doesn't realize it

No. While Nancy is a self declared liberal Democrat, she is willing to listen to and compromise with moderates on issues, unlike Bush and the neocons were.

I love it when their is divided government, it means gridlock, nothing will get done ... yes man. but.... Don't give a crap really, nothing will change. You watch all they will do is fuss and fight and hold hearings on each other. since Kennedy our government has failed us. you people are beyond insane and duped to the high heavens if you think the Dem's will do anything, the same goes for repubs.

Nancy will have no choice but compromise, she doesn't have the numbers to over ride a veto if she forces one
