The current official Google logo was designed by Ruth Kedar, and is a logotype based on the Catull typeface.

The first doodle was designed in 1999 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin after attending the Burning Man Festival. Subsequent logos were designed by an outside contractor, until Larry and Sergey asked then-intern Dennis Hwang to design a logo for the Fourth of July (American Independence Day) in 2000. Hwang has been designing the logos ever since.

Didn't find any reason as to why those particular colors.

I Don't Know Why Is NBC A Red, Blue, Purple ect.. Peacock...Cuz That's How They Made It No Particular Reason I Suppose...

Probably no particular reason...just the colors they chose. If you notice most things with only four colors, they are pretty much always Red, Blue, Yellow and Green...seem to be the most popular colors
