...being connected come from? What was the history? Why poppies? And when did it all beggin?

So many people died, there was fields of poppies that were so bright red from the blood of the people who have died. There were too many people to make gravestones for so the poppies represented the people who have died..and they still do.

It's not an idea, it's a fact that Afghanistan is the world's biggest producer of opium poppies. "Why poppies?" Because that's where they get opium, and there's big money in it. Wherever there is big money, don't you see how that would connect to the war? Especially when it's in the hands of a radical group like the jihadists. When did making money with opium all begin? Quite a while ago. Were you born yesterday?

Well, it would have to include the WWII poem "In Flanders Fields," which uses poppies as a metaphor for gravestones.
