my friends turtle (miss mud) is not growing i don't think she's not feeding it enough.?

Question

my friend tells me I over feed mine. I got her and I a miss. mud a year ago, mine is 3 times the size of hers, mine is also alot more active. the only thing i can figure out is that she keeps the water temp at 75 degrees, and doesn't feed it enough. I keep mine at 85 degrees. I try to tell her that her turtle should be growing at least a
little bit, she gets upset with me. So why isn't her turtle growing??? Please give me some suggestions I can tell her.

Turtles are reptiles and so are cold blooded. They do need heating to about 80F to keep them happy and healthy. They should also have a UV light to simulate sunlight so that they can absorb calcium from their food for their bones and shell.
They need regular feeding and should be fed enough that they consume all that is put infront of them in about tewnty minutes twice a day. Also her turtle may be a male which would be smaller than a female

Well actually cooler water will make a more active turtle. I do not know if she is feeding it enough or not... but she should be feeding it at the very least once a day for about 15minutes. Is your tank bigger than hers? A turtle will not out grow it's surroundings so maybe her turtle has stopped growing because it simply does not have the room.

Warmer temps cause more activity- but that is not automatically a good thing. More food results in more growth- that is also not automatically a good thing.

We tend to overfeed turtles terribly. Based on your note, I can't tell if she is underfeeding or you are overfeeding, but I would suggeast that you go to the site http://ww.austinsturtlepage.com and research the mud turtle care sheet together.

if your friend got her at a pet shop, maybe it was younger than yours when she got hers?like maybe your turtle could be 1 year old and her turtle could be 5 months?

ALSO, IT NEEDS A BIG PLACE TO SWIM !!
WATER TURTLES NEED CALCIUM !!!, VITAMIN A !!! AND MULTIVITAMINS !!!! ( WITHOUT THEM, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE THEM BIGGER )
YOU MUST PAY ATTENTION THE WATER TEMPERATURE TOO !! IT HAS TO BE HOT ! PUT A WATERHEATER !
