Some probably do. While I am largely anti-union, I think they have a legitimate place in our society. Unions and the threat of unionization protect workers from "robber baron" corporate types. Strong, ethical unions (and ethical is the thing most unions lack right now) that make reasonable demands and are willing to give and take as market conditions change are a net benefit to the workers and the corporation. Unfortunately, with the connections to socialist groups and organized crime syndicates they currently have, they are a net detriment to their workers and to the corporations. That is primarily why I am for curtailing union power.

As a Republican, I don't want to do away with unions.
But, I think union membership should be voluntary at the individual level, and I mean really voluntary not just on paper voluntary.
Though I agree that collective bargaining is in-line with conservative principles, I think the union scale concept stifles an individuals ability to advance based on their own performance.

As a Republican I would love to see Unions out the door. They were good in a past time but now things are much different, they've achieved their worker reforms and that is good, but now they bully businesses to keep them from expanding, they drain their workers with hefty union fees and fines, and shutdown production with needless and greedy strikes. Yes, as a Republican, I would do away with them

That has always been a big bugaboo for the Republicans, but there is no real evidence of it

Yep. If it were up to the extreme right wing of the Republican party, slavery would be brought back.

whether or not they would or wouldn't is really beside the point, because of the amount of jobs we continually lose to offshoring.
