I wonder if there is bias here, or if there is some other reason for this imbalance.

The ratio of Palestinan to Israeli dead is approx. 3:1. The majority of Israeli dead are soldiers engaged in operations in occupied territories, the majority of Palestinian dead are civillian.

It is always tragic when a life is lost to violence. It is even more tragic when the lives lost are civillians being disproportionatly killed by an occupying power.

As to reporting, soldiers being killed whilst on military operations in occupied land are considered less newsworthy than say 18 civillians being killed by shell fire. It also depends on the source of the news. US news agencies are significantly less likely to report Palestinian deaths and more likely to report Israeli deaths than their counterparts elsewhere in the world.

Ask yourself why the word "Palestinian" is nearly always followed by the word "militant" in press accounts. Ask yourself why a report of dozens of innocent Palestinian civilians warrants a few inches in a newspaper while a single Israeli killed deserves thousands of words. Ask yourself why the American media never, and I mean N-E-V-ER reports on the daily humiliations suffered by Palestinians living under a 60 year occupation and you'll start to see where the real bias lies.

You know there is bias. The USA supports Israel and every thing the USA does is wrong therefore Israel is wrong. Only Palestinian suffering matters.
