How to Disable Proxy Settings in Mozilla Firefox?
1. Open the Firefox browser.
2. Click the drop down menu in the top left of the Firefox browser and then click "Options."
3. The Options window will appear.
4. Select the "Advanced" tab.
5. On the "Advanced" tab, click the "Network" tab and then the "Settings" button.
6. Select the option that says "No Proxy."
7. Click "OK" and then click "OK" again to disable the proxy settings.
8. Proxy settings are now disabled in Firefox.

do you have a proxy server or is it just an open connection? to change proxy go to Tools - Options - Advanced tab - Connection setting, and set up your proxy server with a port. Apply, restart browser.

check out the Tools menu and then options and then connection settings if ur internet connection is going through a proxy then write the name of the proxy in these connection dialog box .
then i dont suppose there will be any problem if still the problem persists go to getfirefox.com and support.
