I am VERY happy the democrats took over. I think things will change for the better. BUT! I do have a worry.
As everyone knows, democrats like to tax the upper class. But with the republican tax cuts, the rich haven’t had to pay that many taxes. So, with their extra money, they have been able to invest their money into stock, and also their own businesses so lower and middle class people get employed, thus making our economy boom.
But if those taxes are brought back, making the rich pay more, they wont have nearly as much money as they do now, making it so that the rich ‘sit’ on the money more. Rather than spending their money, they will save. Thus, making the economy fall.
Also, I am afraid that we will pull out of the war all together.
Don’t get me wrong! I want my boys and girls home safely. But if we pull out right away, here is what WILL happen.
At the beginning of the war, Bin Laden was recorded saying that the Americans will retreat before they finish the war. We have no ‘balls’. (Not EXACT words but pretty much what he said)
If we pull out right away, then Al Qaeda will scream victory, saying they beat the U.S. Thus bringing more terrorist to Al Qaeda groups. Not only this, but they will feel more invincible. They will become bolder, giving a GREATER chance of another attack.
I think what we should do, and I think the republicans will do it….I hope…is to change our plans. Try something new! If that doesn’t work, maybe try a different Idea. If that still doesn’t work, pull out. Simple as that. Rather than just saying ‘Forget it!’ and backing out right away, I hope we try a different approach.
Those are really my only worries. Other than that, it’s all good!

Neither good nor bad. I feel pretty much the same as I did 2 days ago. The Democrats have an opportunity, hopefully they will use it wisely and try to pass bi-partisan legislation favorable to all Americans. I am an independent and I did vote for the Republicans because I did not feel the Democrats had a positive message for change, but were rather saying vote for us because we are not Republicans. I am reserving judgment on the matter until I see what their actual plan for change is and what actions they take to try and implement it. I do not put my faith in government no matter who is in power. I put my faith in the people because generally they make the right choices at the right times in history.

It wasn't so much a take-over as an occupation...
They ousted the long-standing dicatatorial government that was in place, and installed what they hope well be peace-keepers. The Democrats expect to be greeted by the Washington population as liberators, but that largely depends on what they do from here.
They are faced with a staggering problem. How to police a culture steeped in corruption and sectarian/partisan violence, and attempt to introduce Democratic values into a system that many think is not ready for such concepts.
And then, after several years of occupation and attempting to establish a new government in a war-torn economy, they get to turn their attention to Iraq and see what they can do there.

Now that the Dems are in control of Congress this country will be in the toilet. Hopefully the Republicans will retake Congress in the next election.

It is a good feeling-Bush has been the biggest failure in US history. Almost 3,000 soilders have been killed-400 Billion $- Interest rates for student loans have went up-Coorporate profits up-not reflected in the middle class pockets-(trust me if he could have funneled more of the record profits to the little guy-these elections would have been different)-seniors paying more for drugs (lost senior votes also)-corruption of historical proportions -received weekly spiritual advice from a drug using *******hypocrite...hallelejah!!!!!

Our system of checks and balances is back in place. Don't cheer though. The situation is grim. There is a horrible war going on and the deficit is at a record high. It will take much hard work and effort to save the country from the damage that has been done.

Nothing will change. Now the dem's, as well as the Rep's will be seen as a warmonging imperialistic party once they're forced to confront the fact that the middle east must be change.

Tax increases are on the way!
Job deletions are also coming!
See the more they tax the less money people can make,
its cool in a way we will drive out all or capitalist and then there will be no jobs.

I am well pleased, maybe now Bush will stop prating around and sticking his nose into other people's business, he may even tell the truth for once. When its all done, you can come over here and help get the UK prime minister sorted out, Mr. bLIAR.
