Macs are definitely a better machine if you look at the technical specs. Esp. the new MacPro Books, they have dual Xeon Core Processors (the ones found in servers!!!). Also they offer up to 16 GB of memory, for a laptop that is amazing! But it all depends on what you want to use your machine for. If you need to crunch numbers and process spreadsheet and data warehousing PCs are for you. If you want a machine that runs beautifully and so smoothly like for Video artists, Musicians, and anybody who can appreciate a piece of technology that is also dually a piece of art than the Mac is for you. One last thing to get really hooked up the MacPro Books (I mean Bluetooth keyboard, mouse, 23" HD panel, 16 GB RAM, 500 GB harddrive space, and the works) you will have to spend about $5,900. PCs are much cheaper, but if you look at the specs you will see why!

You are better off using Google to find articles that have already been written on this topic. One of the earliest Mac issues, was that the hardware was limited in terms of upgrades. With the PCs, you could upgrade them and add new devices and what not. Today, that is less of an issue. Next would be Mac OS vs Windows. People will claim that Mac OS has no viruses. PCs can use Linux, and people say the same. Windows, though it may not be perfect, has a much greater support base, is more widely used, and has a lot more software available. Keep in mind, that unless you plan to purchase said software, this is not so much an issue. Gaming is where it gets hit the most. Macs have been well known for their graphic editing superiority, as well as their ingenuity. Macs have also been known to be more expensive.

Mac is widely known for it's amazing audio, and video
streaming, and editing abilities, and software.

The way that Mac handles it's data is simply remarkable.
Gigabytes of data can be parsed and sorted at amazing
speeds because of the hardware and software design.

PC is great for gaming or normal office use. The majority
of PC's use Windows XP as their Operating System (OS).

PC and Mac are two different computer builds. Windows
is not the only type of operating system that can run on
a PC. Mac does not support Linux, Unix, Fedora (form of
Linux) and those kinds of operating systems like the PC can.

With PC you have the ability to have the most up to date
compatibility with games and server environments, but with
Mac your editing abilities and artistic tastes are never limited.

Mac can be used for some office related jobs, but it's not
recommend to do so.

Macs are normally better for media such as movies and pictures and such. PC's are normally better for working with numbers and figures and such. For personal use, Macs are probably better because they are less susceptible to viruses (most viruses were designed for PC's). Macs can also run most of the same programs PC's can and they also have some really cool features to them that come out on them before they usually come out on PC's. PC's usually do have more software that is available to them though and PC software is usually easier to find.

For business though, I'd probably recommend a PC.

Hi loni_831,

Both computers are very similar in how they work. There are various differences in how to do things. I'm a Mac user so I'm kind of biassed, but both OS's have their benefits and shortcomings. I'm afraid that you are going to get Windows guys telling you Windows and Mac guys promoting Macs

The Mac OS X has a Unix kernel and has been very much protected from viruses and spyware. Although there have been a few anti-virus programmers that have created "proof of concept" worms, there haven't been any introduced to the Macintosh community.

Although Windows has more software, much of it is also script-based. The Mac has been getting a lot of Unix ported programs here lately.

because only 2% of the population owns macs, the viruses are written for windows. They are much more secure because of this and therefore great computers. I think they are overall better for the arts, and Pc's are better for business.

Macs. This is because every reason people used to get PC's (for more programs ect.) you now can do on a mac. You would get a program (boot camp, paralells) and run most operating systems.
