it is more dificult because of the overys normally work togeather and reproduction of eggs will be cut in half. She is getting up in age as well witch will limit her chances also. (not that 39 is OLD, but it is not 22.) I wish her luck and hope that it happens for her. I would suggest she talk to a specialist soon before her chances are totally gone.

Actually, having two functioning ovaries is a failsafe device in human women - if one stops working, the other will pick up the slack and release an egg each month. Having two ovaries just ensures that the largest/most developed egg is released - it doesn't matter which ovary it comes from.
Usually doctors will say that unless a couple has been trying to conceive for at least one year without success that they may have fertility problems. Is she seeing a specialist at this point? As 35 is considered "advanced maternal age" she may need medical intervention to become pregnant at this point.

No it is usually fine to conceive with one ovary. My aunt has one ovary (the other was removed due to a cyst when she was 14) and the other ovary also has a smaller cyst on it. She had 4 pregnancies (only three children, one miscarriage).
If your friend has been trying for over a year it is time to go and consult a doctor. Her partner too, it may have nothing to do with her it may be his sperm. Either way after a year it is time to start testing.

It is difficult to conceive with 2 ovaries under these conditions.
Like anything else related to sex the more you relax the more success you will have.
In the case of 1 ovary it is my understanding that she will have less 'periods' and a smaller window to 'hit' for fertility.
My solution is more frequent and more relaxing sex.
Establish a pattern to take the pressure out of the experience.
Lot's of fore-play, music, wine or something you will relax to.
(Is it difficult - yes, impossible - no)
There is also "in vitro"

Yes, it can be for some women. I had a friend with one ovary and her and her husband tried for about an year when her doctor prescribed Clomid. This pill caused her to ovulate more frequenlty thus upping her chances for conception. It worked after 5 months and she was finally pregnant. Your friend needs to make an appointment with a doctor if she hasn't already. Best of luck to your co-worker.
