The lottery is very real in Spain... Actually there are several types of lottery in Spain: LOTERIA NACIONAL, EUROMILLONES, & LA PRIMITIVA and you buy the tickets in special little shops.
There is even one called LA QUINIELA which is a football lottery (soccer games) and depends on the results of the national football matches every week.
Plus there is another type which is called la ONCE these tickets are sold by blind and handicapped persons who are streetvendors all over the country.
LA ONCE is a national non-profit organization and the lottery ticket money is used to support this organization which works to aid and support the blind and handicapped people all over Spain.

All these lotteries are sold directly person to person, they are not sold by phone, mail or any other typre of communication. So if you have received an e-mail concerning winning lottery tickets, dump it, it's definitely a hoax.

There is a Spanish lottery. But, if you got an email saying you won it's a scam. That scam has been around almost as long as email has. It's a variation on the Nigerian scam. They want your banking info so they can clean you out.
