and how is it different from the original warcraft games

Basic premise is that it's 6 years (or so) after the events in Warcraft 3. Players are members of the Horde or the Alliance, and pretty much have to deal with various things going on in the world - naga attacks, rogue orc clans, the Scourge.... There's always something to do.

The biggest difference, play-wise, is that the previous games are RTS, and WoW is an RPG. Lore-wise, it's just a continuation of the story.

Its a massive multiplayer online RPG, where you play and develop one character and play with several other people online. It's not like other WarCraft games which are real time strategy games.

it's an MMORPG, so tons of people are playing all at once. you can work with real people from all over the world to complete quests and level up. it's aweome.
