The birth control pills that were available in the past had a greater risk invovlved because of high amount of hormones, I hear newer ones have a smaller risk , but this is what my Pathology book has to say I quote

" The sequential types of oral contraceptives increase the risk of developing breast cancer. Other tumors showing a slightly increased frequency in women recieving contraceptive pills for long durations are benign tumours of the liver, and a few patients have been reported to have developed hepatocellular carcinoma"

Having children does not cause cancer, except for the very few women with mutations in the BRCA2 gene. Birth control pills have a mixed effect, with a small, temporary increase in breast cancer and a moderate decrease in ovarian cancer and a small decrease in several others. Taken altogether, birth control pills make you slightly less likely to have cancer. Of course, so does having six kids and breastfeeding for a dozen years. There are several things you can do to decrease your risk of cancer, beginning with not smoking (tobacco or anything else), not getting sunburns, and maintaining a healthy weight.

There's no clear cut answer. However; there have been research studies done showing there may be a link between synthetic estrogen (HRT or Birth control pill) and breast cancer depending on the duration of time taken. Too much estrogen is not good for the body.

In my opinion yes. When my mom got breast cancer the FIRST thing they took away were her birth control pills. Thats right there isnt any exact confirmation it does. But, I believe that putting hormones in your body are not good.

If youf family has a histroy of breast cancer on your mother's side some doctors will recommend that you do not go on any type of hormonal birth control as it raises the risks of acquiring it yourself.
