He thinks he would still have to have something in that spot in his mouth. I've heard about some mint stuff but is there anything else out there? Anyone tried to quit...what did you do? Thanks!

Buy him some sugar free gum and then tell him if he doesn't quit, then he cannot kiss you because his mouth is disgusting when he is chewing tobacco. Good luck!!

I chewed for 14 years. I found that in order for me to quite I had to first and foremost, decide I was done chewing and really wanted to quite. Then I used nicorette gum for a week or so to get through the tough times. 9 years later, I have yet to touch tobacco. Good luck.

This may not be the most practical way to help, but it is what helped me to stop chewing (dipping). My doc put me on a treatment plan that used nothing but Wellbutrin. It's not that the chew was causing major problems at this point in my life, I simply wanted a better health insurance rate. The only drawback was that the Wellbutrin made me seem jittery, not nervous, but just like I had way too much energy. It didn't feel good, but it didn't hurt either. I only stayed on the lowest dose before tapering off after about 6 weeks.

He could use the patch or nicotine gum to replace the nicotine, and he could chew sugarless gum to replace the chewing effect he will be missing
