"I'm confused about England and Britain. They seem to sometimes be used interchangeably. " - That would likely be incorrect then, hence they have different names to start with. If it has a different name then it likely means something else. In simple terms... See very basic map image link below that explains the following. Scotland = Scotland England = England Wales = Wales Great Britain (or Britian) = big island on the right Great Britain (or Britian) = where Scotland, Wales and England are all found only Ireland = smaller island on the left Ireland = where Republic of Ireland (Eire) and Northern Ireland are found only UK = a country of countries UK = Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Republic of Ireland is not part of UK. They left many years ago. Hence there's two Irelands due to a split of differences. Some of the stuff you are writing is wrong. Getting them wrong could cause offence. But this is the correct place to ask these things and to learn. So well done.

I'm Welsh and I love the UK for what it is.

We have beautiful scenery, great history, culture, friendly people, talented musicians, actors and artists.

Those who accuse of us "oh but you had an empire and you oppressed people" had better get the history books out on their own countries. Most Europeans countries had empires in the last few centuries and those that didn't wanted one. Plus the Americans committed mass genocide against the Native Indians and built their economy on slavery - the Aussies weren't much better to the aborigines. So before you shout too loud look at what your forebears did.

Sadly the UK is currently suffering from high unemployment, crime figures, overrun with immigration and under the thumb of a useless spineless government that doesn't give a damn for its own people. We need a REAL leader to get us back on track and I hope we will get one soon!

Things the UK has to offer

Bacon butties or Rhubbard crumble with custard

Our no questions asked eager way of putting our hands in our pockets to give to people/places that need it. Even though we could do with it ourselves.

Our ability to offer free support and medical care to people who really need it. Even though others abuse it.

Free education to all children and a good meal thrown in to ensure every child has food in their bellies.

The UK is a sharing nation that can sometimes be to proud or kind to stop sharing. When we should just admit we cant keep going on like this.

I think the UK is great for everything we give which is funded by great hard workers. Just think how great it would be if everyone made a contribution?

Because in the UK everything has happened. We have been invaded, conquered and our genes mixed through rape. We have had our civil war, and wars with our neighbours, and we have come out ok. Things are now changing, we are getting a little overcrowded, but the indiginous people, at the moment are putting up with it. Lets see what will happen in 10 yrs time. And George Cadbury being Irish, err think not.

Not anymore!! High taxes, mass immigration, cheating politicians, bad schooling, bad health service, no Free Speech for natives, Prison system a shambles. etc.........How could anyone say we are one of the greatest counries in the world??? Maybe when Tony goes we will get a party that will start to put things right again......but it'll take a hell of a long time to right his wrongs and make us a force again!

Having lived in the UK and Australia, I would have to say the UK can be a pretty miserable place to live. Standards of living are pretty poor and salaries are shockingly bad. Just as well I love my husband or I'd go back home.

Definitely NOT. Either Australia, New Zealand or Holland would be the best countries in the world.

UK does not even compare to living in Australia or New Zealand.
