I've heard oil.But didn't they decline before oil?

They had nothing to decline FROM. Oil helped them economically, but not much, because the Saudi Princes and such get most of the money.

The Arab world blew it when it failed to embrace the printing press. Musilms didn't like the idea of printing, they thought that all written material should be hand copied, because that was more Allah-like. True they did have extensive learning in the sciences and such, but Europe overtook the Arab world when it was able to disseminate information and knowledge at lightning speed after the printing press was introduced there.

Well, you have to go up FIRST before you can decline!
Those poeple haven't even gotten THAT far yet!
It's only been several thousand years.
One exception??...probably when pillagers destroyed the Library at Alexandria, Egypt 2000 some years ago. It is said that the destruction of that Library set us back technologically 2000 years!
