I just heard that Wal*Mart has learned it's lesson...they are going to dump the word "Holiday" and replace it with "CHRISTMAS" on all their Christmas items! About time! CHRISTMAS is all about CHRIST, so why shouldn't we say CHRISTMAS? What are your opinions?

Let’s just enjoy Christmas and STOP making it political…that is all I meant. "Merry Christmas"

It was a bit ludicrous for them to remove the name Christmas in the interest of political correctness from their Christmas decorations. If a product is designed specifically in celebration of a certain holiday, why would one then withhold the name of the holiday from the product?
Christ is the reason for the holiday. If you don't celebrate Christmas you probably won't be buying Christmas decorations anyway. I don't spend a lot of time Menorah shopping, but I don't get offended if I see one somewhere, anywhere...Hanukkah is a wonderful holiday as well.

I think Christmas items should be Christmas Items...yep.

I do think that parties during the holiday season though - like at the office and other public social affairs of the season should be "Holiday" party. In a big city like where I am & across the world really where all the employees are not Christian - maybe 30% of them or MORE are NOT in my town...and will celebrate Hanukkah instead...why then should it be a Christmas party? Not everyone there is there because it's their Christmas holiday - some there are celebrating Hanukkah or maybe no holiday at all. So that's one good example why then it should be Holiday and not Christmas. Not everyone is Christian. Same with big televised parades and other more public events. Should just be "Holiday" and include everyone. I was invited to a party during the HOLIDAYS last year however by a Jewish co-worker at his synagoge. It was sponsered by the Jewish community and donations from that affair went to local charities. The ballroom was decorated for Hanukkah and the name of the formal party was "The Matzoh Ball"...which I find funny and endearing. That was a Jewish Party so Matzoh Ball was fine. A party sponsered by a Christian church should yes be a Christmas Party. Everyone please just have some respect and common sense! Hanukkah and Christmas are in the same flippin month!!! Very often the same week. It IS the 'holidays'...not just Christmas.

I'm a Christian but I get a little icky when I see other Christians totally disrespecting the fact that they are not the only ones celebrating a religious holiday that time of year.

A little respect and common sense is all that's needed. People have become OVER sensitive and absolutely ridiculous. My Jewish friend said people send her Christmas cards. She said she sends her Christian friends Christmas cards and her Jewish friends Hanukkah cards. She asked me why Christians in turn can't be as respectful. I told not everyone is, but the ones that aren't sure are a bad example. I told her I buy "holiday" cards and send them out to everyone..lol..covers everything...for my family and closer friends that I know are Christian..I send Christmas cards.
It's that easy - shouldn't have to have all the drama.

I think other beliefs and cultures also celebrate holidays at this time of year, and it is shortsighted to recognize the holidays of one group and exclude all others. This is especially true when it takes so little to acknowledge those events.

If the items are blatently Christmas-related, I have no problem with labeling them as such. The stores should make sure they carry other non-Christmas holiday items.

So, joyous/holy Hanukah, Kwanzaa, Ramadan, Solstice, and everything else, to ALL people! And Merry Christmas to all the Christians out there as well!

While other cultures celebrate other holidays around this time it is very important to keep CHRIST in Christmas because he is the reason for the season. I am very happy about this change.

Because during December there is many holidays that are celebrated by people of all different cultures and religions. By saying Happy Holidays, you are including everyone, but by saying Merry Christmas you are excluding many.

That is right. My son worked there several years ago and he was very disappointed that they were only allowed to say Happy Holidays!. This did not stop him from saying Merry Christmas though. He loves the Lord with all of his heart as was prepared to be fired if needed. I hope this is true.CHRISTmas would not be ......if there was no CHRIST.

Well, Christmas is not the only holiday that occurs during that time. There is Hannukah, Kwanzaa, Winter Solstice, etc. Not everyone who shops in WalMart is Christian. Other people are shopping for other holidays, that is why most businesses have wised up and change it to Happy Holidays to include all groups. Not everyone wants to be reminded of Christ and Christianity when they are shopping.

I don't care what they do at walmart or any other public place. My Christmas is in my home, in my heart and in my church. You should not let yourself be emotional over things that don't matter during the Christmas season, that's the true cause of commercialization of Christmas and the loss of Christmas Spirit. God Bless

I think its great...not so much because of the whole Christ thing, but because thats the name of the holiday. Why not call it Christmas. We dont call Halloween or Thanksgiving or Easter anything but that so why should we call Christmas anything else?

I say HOORAY for anyone that says Christmas instead of holiday, isn't it about time we put the Christ back in Christmas and as far as the rest of the holidays like winter solstice and Kwanzaa and Hanukkah they don't fall on the same day as Christmas so why does everyone have to get all up in arms about calling it holiday. Lighten up people when it is time for Kwanzaa then say happy Kwanzaa not during Christmas....
