I certainly believe it has a place along beside movies and games. I had men who years ago were desensitized, who thought so and so (who was shot yesterday) would be at morning formation. There has been case after case of people acting out what they visual is a way of life. I come from a place where the Ghetto would look like Palm Springs but has little violence. Many people claim the ghetto made them act this way or that and they are correct to a point but why is it not wide spread in all areas? Many of the Afro Americans claim they cannot perform math and it is a slight against them. However blacks being sponsored from Africa country where they have been made to fight as soldiers since they were 8 years old get straight "A's". Why is that? Look at the way many Afro-American treat women, hell look at that Maury Show he has 11 kids, he has 9 kids and they all dress the dress and walk the walk. Many Afro American leaders also agree, including Spike Lee. So the answer is Yes.

God Bless You and The Southern People.

NO! Violence was going on in this world WAY before Hip Hop even arrived on the scene! So please-----let's not even go there!

And to you leavemeth...Let's not even talk about how blacks are more violent then any one else. I don't know what nationality you are but I believe there is a little of every nationality sitting up in the prisons throughout the US! Such as: Skins head; (White) White Surprises; (White) Hispanics; Asians; Russians and yes Blacks!

How many country western singers have been gunned down?

It's not hip-hop in particular, but the entire lifestyle it represents. Not to say that all hip-hoppers are violent drug lords, but there does seem to be a connection. And this opinion is based upon having a hip-hop loving son with felony drug convictions. So, forgive me if I offended anyone. The above is merely a personal opinion.

I think people who allow themselves to be influenced by hip hop in a negative way are the real causes of violence...

But at the same time look at Biggie and Tupac...They both took the violence committed against each other into their own hands and where they now...DEAD.

i don't really know much about hip hop...
so here's my uneducated opinion...
any speech/music which glorifies violence and devalues humanity is going to have a negative impact....
so, yes, it will have SOME direct impact on actual violence

No offense, but I think it's pretty ridiculous to think that listening to certain things or watching certain things on television cause people to jump up and run out to maim and kill.

It certainly could be true that violent people are more attracted to listening to certain types of music. But music doesn't make us violent.
