My son has GERD & is on meds. Anyways, some nights he is up every hour! Last night he slept for 5 hours, till 2 am, then woke up, ate & was up every hour until 7 am! At 7, he had his first bowel movement since before bed & then he slept for 3 more hours. He does this a lot. He won't have a BM at night, and then he wakes up gassy, bloated, grunting, ect... Any ideas?

It could be the meds or the formula. Check with his Dr. to make sure he doesn't think he should adjust one of them. Make sure that you burp him regulary, even if he is not feeding, but especially when he is. make sure he is not aking in any air at all. Burp him 1/2 way through a feeding and after feedings. You may want to try burping him on your lap so that we is putting a little weight on his tummy to help get it out one end or the other.(lol). That gas is very painful for them. If this does not work then you can get an infant med for gas, but it seems that he is on enough meds already, try the extra burping first and adjust his formula.

The reflux could be caused by a food allergy, either to something that mom is eating that is coming through the breastmilk, or to a formula. Common allergies are dairy, wheat, nuts, soy, and foods like broccoli that cause gas. Have mama stop eating dairy and wheat for a week or so and see if it helps with the gas. Or change to a non dairy based formula, like a goats milk formula and see if that helps.

Other things that you can try are pumping his legs (like a bicycle) and keeping him upright after he eats for about 30 minutes. Wearing him in a carrier like an Ergo (www.ergocarrier.com) or a sling (www.kangarookorner.com) in an upright position can also help with the digestion.

When our son had really bad reflux the change in my diet made a huge difference. The link listed below as a source has some really helpful information.

My daughter also had reflux. We did an upper GI on her and saw it on the monitor after she drank the Barium Sulfate. They put my daughter on meds also but they had to change her formula due to the reflux. Nutramigen is the best formula for this problem, if your child is on formula that is. Breast milk is also the best. Also, you might want to have the baby sleep at an incline with her head up. We put a blanket under my daughters mattress in her bassinet to elevate her head without using a pillow. Also, try using the Dr. Browns bottles, they help with reflux as well as gas. The less air the child swallows, then less gas they will have. Good luck and talk to your pediatrician to see if Nutramigen is the best for your child. It is made by Enfamil.

After feeding him and at every diaper change I would suggest moving his legs in the bicycle motion. My son has the same issues and he will cry because the gas pressure is so much for him. I read on the Internet about this and I can say it has helped him so much. I can move his legs and he will let gas like a grown man so I know it was building up. It will not help him have a BM but it will at least get rid of some pressure.

Try every morning, night, and whenever he wakes up to push his legs up, pushing the gas out...or rub his back etc. Anything to get the gas out because this is what is making him uncomfortable.

faculties ought to do a lots greater desirable interest of combating the bullying. The effects must be severe. It was purely the lads that have been bullies. Now the girls are becoming to be into the act. How is a baby who's bullied meant to learn something interior the lecture room while he’s apprehensive approximately getting crushed up or under pressure while he leaves college to bypass abode? and how is he meant to pay interest on his homework while he’s apprehensive approximately attending to college the subsequent morning with out having crushed up or under pressure? Bullies are on the low end of the academic foodstuff chain. they have the braveness of a toad and the mind to examine. Bullies ought to settle for one risk to provide up their nonsense. a typical experience ought to get them a 2 day suspension (they gained’t recommendations with the aid of fact they’re no longer likely to learn something besides). A 2nd offense must be dealt with as battery and earn them a weekend in detention center and a 2 week suspension. The suspension must be served in abode, interior the detention room so they could purely sit down there all day and be bored. in spite of it takes, we ought to renounce the bullying. it particularly is no longer innocuous and there is not any justification for tolerating it. the days of “Boys would be boys” must be discarded consistently. An 11-year-previous boy hanged himself with the aid of abuse he took. He died with the aid of fact no person at his college did something with reference to the bullying he grew to become into subjected to. BTW, it particularly is not on the whole a controversy of bigotry. it particularly is a controversy of habit. we gained't punish people for his or her attitudes and ideology, yet we are able to truly punish them for his or her habit.

Talk to your Dr., but if he's on formula, you may need to change the type of formula that you're feeding him.
