The republicans USED TO stand for smaller government and fiscal responsibility, now they preside over the largest debt AND the largest federal government in U.S. history. Pres bush has also outspent every other president that we have ever had!!

Really though, its the whole social conservatism that I'm not liking. Thats where we've gone astray, as Republicans, the fundamentalist evangelicals taking the reigns. As for the debt, i think no one expected 9/11 and therefore we are still in reaction mode someone, trying to figure out, in hindsight what would have been the best course of action. Any Dem would have done the same.

easy to answer. because there is an R next to their name. and this whole idea of D is right R is wrong or vice versa has been shoved in our faces. People are to unwilling to look at platforms and beliefs of these candidates and judge by their values. ex how many florida Democrats like Heath Schuler but hate Bush. Hate to say but you are rooting for a conservative and bashing a liberal.

Earmarks in 2005: almost 14,000 totalling over 27 BILLION.
Fiscally responsible my ***. The difference is that Dems spend $$ on social programs, while the Repubs. spend $$$ on pork pet projects to give their buddies hook-ups.
