It keeps coming on. I know the gas cap is tight. A friend of mine said I probably just need a tune up. Just waiting to save the $$! =p

go to advance or autozone have it checked for free. this light tells you when you have a sensor problem or an ignition problem it is a self diagnosing system designed to help you diagnose your problem. it is not designed to come on to get you to the dealer to spend money

Your car is managed by a computer, which is constantly monitoring different critical systems and circuits. That little light is the computer's ONLY means of telling you that it has identified a problem in the engine management.
If your car is 1995 or older, it relates to components controlling the engine, and possibly transmission. There are means for retrieving the diagnostic trouble codes that most of the time do not require a code reader or a scanner.
If your car is 1996 or newer, the car is OBD II compliant, and the light will illuminate when the computer identifies a failure or fault that can potentially cause the EMISSIONS to rise to a level more than one and a half times the maximum allowable levels for the car. If the light flashes, it is indicating that the engine is misfiring, and pushing RAW fuel into the exhaust, which will poison the catalytic converter. Any fault NOT related to emissions will not turn the light on, but will store a diagnostic trouble code.
If the car is 1996 or newer, a scanner or code reader is required to retrieve the codes.
If you don't have a friend with one, or cannot afford to take it to a shop, you can ask one of the discount auto parts stores to read them for you. Write the code and description down, then refer to a repair manual for the proper diagnostic and repair procedures.

Good Luck

Check engine light is also reffered to as an idiot light.Half the time they're wrong. So check your oil level and coolant in the radiator. If it's up to"par" then you need to check the sending units.
http://www.dodgerepair.com I'm not sure if this sight will help but personnally i would just call your local Doge dealer and get some advice.Good luck.bye

If it is on constantly and not flashing and the car is running alright, don't worry about it. Have it checked when you can, it is emissions related, probably a faulty o2 sensor.

The deal is that there is something - you don't know what - wrong with your engine.

You might be lucky, and it might be that driving your car with the fault might not make the problem worse - and more expensive.
