I have had three children and I didn't know any of them. I wanted a boy so bad with my first I kept telling myself it was but it was a girl. The samething with the second. Then finally the third was a boy but I thought it was another girl. Good Luck. Hope all goes well.

i don't know. I didn't find out until the first ultrasound. of course i had twins (one of each) so that could be why i didn't know. Some people can't predict, or as you put it, maternal instinct in regards to the sex of the baby. so don't worry if you never get it. i think those people guessed, because they would have a 50/50 chance of being right. but that is just my opinion.
Good luck with your pregnancy and your motherhood :)

I never had this "instinct".

With my son, I didn't know what he was until he showed up. My daughter, I received an ultrasound and was told "it" was a "she".

You have enough real things to worry about (your health, the baby's health, the nursery, daycare, leave from work, etc) don't let your hormones take over your brain so that you start freaking out about the small stuff like "maternal instinct" and guessing the babies sex.

Congratulations and good luck on your upcoming arrival.

My mom with me swore i was a boy for the whole 40 weeks and was in for a shock when i was pushed out and was a girl they didnt even have a name for me or girl clothing it was all boy stuff

Im 36 weeks and i swear that im having a boy and my doctor keeps hinting at it too
but my family and friends all want me to have a girl so its all just a big guessing game unless you see the gender in an ultrasound

I didn't have any idea. I thought my daughter might be a boy and I thought my son was a girl, but I wasn't too sure on either. With my daughter we couldn't find out at the ultrasound and didn't find out until she was born. The whole pregnancy, I had no clue. Not everyone knows. Ultrasounds are really good for just knowing what you're having. :)

It's not accurate! Some women think they "know", but they're probably only right 50% of the time (like flipping a coin). You'll just have to wait until 20 wks and see on the ultrasound. Just be glad that's available!

Some people say they can tell, but I couldn't! I had dreams it was a girl and VOILA... I had a baby boy. I truly don't think you can tell. If someone happens to guess based on "instinct" I really think it's a lucky guess. The ultrasound will tell if you so choose to fing out.

With my first i just "knew" right from the beginning I was having a boy, i was right. With my second, i started having dreams a few weeks into it, and that i was having a girl. I even bought a girl outfit. well, i was WRONG, it was a boy. With this one, i never had a feeling per say. I couldn't really tell. I just figured another boy. But as of yesterday, my doctor said i'm having a girl!!! Yay.
Some people just "know", I therefore didn't.
