Make it a very small party. Like, just you and him. Because in my experience, husbands HATE surprise parties.

My wife did this to me once and it surprised the SH*T out of me.
Her & i went out to dinner, and when we got home there was about 15 people at our house with a cake and balloons and streamers.

Just tell all of his friends and make sure NOBODY TELLS the secret. They can decorate the house while you are at dinner. :)
