Keeping a killer on deathrow, letting him/her appeal over and over again before they are put to death or sentencing someone to life and footing the bill for room and board?

Currently it is more expensive to keep someone on deathrow until execution than it is to keep them in prison for life. Some estimates say that it can be up to three times as much to execute someone. You cannot shorten the appeals process because of our constitutional right to appeal.

Keeping them on deathrow is defitnatly more expensive. I think that when people are put on death row they should be put to sleep in a matter of a month at the most. And for the people that do life, they should work and NOT get paid. Cause they DO get paid

I've heard that under the current system it actual costs more to execute someone that keep them on death row forever. This is due to the automatic appeals process and so forth that has to happen under law to execute.

Which is worse, to execute an innocent person or to pay extra to double check if they are guilty. It is worse to kill an innocent person or let a killer live?

It depends on the type of execution used. Lethal injection is extremely expensive, so it is cheaper to keep someone in prison for life than use lethal injection. Electrocution is a little bit cheaper, but it's still more costly than life in prison.

Now, if you're using a firing line (used in countries other than US), then it's MUCH cheaper to kill them than it is to keep them (a box of bullets and the wages of a group of officers for 5 minutes).

Supporting the illegal aliens is costing the American tax payers a lot of money, along with supporting the prisoners!

It would cost much less to give them one year to come up with new evidence and then kill them. You seem to have ignored that there are more than the two options that you suggested.

Putting him away for life is FAR more expensive...we've got to pay to keep these people alive! Nice, huh?

one estimate is that out of every ten prisoners, one did not commit the crime for which they are being punished.
