Exactually they think they can do whatever they want and treat evreyone like dirty. An old person bumped into me and looked disgusted at me as if it were my fault.

Give her the benefit of the doubt. A lot of people are just flat out nasty to the elderly. Maybe she's had enough of being the sweet old lady and being treated like a non-functioning part of society.

RESPECT YOUR ELDERS! No matter how they treat you.

Ever gone to an assisted living, or nursing home? Maybe you should sometime. I used to bring cats and dogs from the shelter to visit seniors. Do you have any idea how many of the elderly are living alone in their homes afraid to go out into society because of people like you? I once drove to a patient's home to bring her information on Breast Cancer as she was recently diagnosed, but too afraid to leave her home, or to drive to the hospital. She had no family left. She would have rather died alone in her house with her little Yorkie then drive ten miles to the hospital for treatment. Then once I convinced her to at least come talk to a doc, she was too worried about leaving her dog alone. I offered to take her dog to my house while she was gone. You know what? She showed up at the hospital a few weeks later and she is still alive today.

You obviously can't be open-minded or kindhearted enough to see things from another perspective. I suggest the next time you're in public, you mind your manners and be respectful of the next old lady you come across.

Good lord! How cold-hearted is the world these days?

Since she is gone I say ignore it but if it happens again from someone and they don't apologize then you need to look at them on the spot and say " That was rude and you need to apologize". Going an holding her hostage will only get you in trouble. Even though it would be funny to see something like that on the news, "Woman holds another woman hostage until she apologizes for slamming her in the shins with a shopping basket"

Wear shin guards the next time you go shopping if you're that upset about it. And when you get as old as she is, there will be someone younger whining about how badly you drive a shopping cart. Assuming you're lucky enough to live that long. You might get cancer, get a fatal disease, get hit by a drunk driver head on while you and your fiance are driving home from work.

This could have hapened at any age--if the mind is somewhere else. Had this been a teen, would you still have posted this question--Don't teens suck- and another thing--your time is coming. You will be old one day and what will the younger think of you? This from an old woman.

did she even realise she hit you, because if not, how can she apologise for something she didn't even know she did in the first place. Leave the old lady be, you'll be old one day, and you'll probably start hitting people with shopping baskets without realising it too, so show a little respect to the old people. =)

Don't young people make you mad?? Are you really that naive ?Do you really lump all ages into one basket? Sure, the old lady should have apologized, but maybe she's sick or weak and didn't realize she hit you. Each age group seems to think THEY are the most intelligent, with it, attractive, etc. of the human race, Wait until you are Old. You may get there some day and as you reach each age group, you wonder how the younger population could be so , crude, rude and socially unacceptable! Believe me, it happens to us all.

Some old people can be really sweet but then you have the old bags like you mentioned who think they rule the world just because they are ancient. You should have said something to her on the spot, like excuse me you just broke my shin bone. Then if she apologized, then it could have been an honest mistake. But if she acted like you were in her way, you should give her a lesson on manners, even if she is old, that's not an excuse to not be polite.

Don't YOUNG people make you mad? Always whining about something. Never greatful, never thankful but always complaining!

I am sure she didn't intentionally hit you - and she's not an old COW. What goes around comes around and you should learn to mind your own manners before calling someone else RUDE!

Since no one else taught you manners, please visit the website below:

Wow considering the answers you received I didn't know being old excused common human decency and polite manners.

All these complacent people are the same people the government hopes to walk all over one day. Oh, wait! They already are! YAY!!! :)

Thanks for the laugh everyone!!
I hate shopping at all, carts should have beepers on them and horns, maybe rubber bumpers going all the way around so it doesn't hurt when they run you over.
Christmas is the worst, the season of joy and giving, yeah right, they need cops patrolling the inside of malls never mind outside.
Chill, and know that I derived a great deal of joy from your misfortune, but I needed it this morning so don't begrudge me. Cheers.
