I am just wondering that if WTA (Women Tennis) rates all the best women players of all time in a 1 to 10 list, who would be the first? Can anyone give his 10 best to see if it tallies with mine?

I think the answer above was probably a list of players from a certain tournament because there is no way Mashona Washington is the number 6 player of all time. Well im not going to list the players in order of greatness but i will list some players that i think should be on the list.

Martina Navratilova
Serena Williams (Given that she gets back to her way of playing and has success over the next couple of years. Venus is also capable of being in the top 10 of all time)
Billie Jean King
Steffi Graf
Chris Evert
Monica Seles
Martina Hingis
Margaret Smith Court

*I hope this helps

1. Lindsay Davenport: Trounces Anastasia Myskina again and then receives a free pass to the Filderstadt title when Amelie Mauresmo retires with an abductor strain. She's just 15 points from No. 1 and, if Davenport doesn't get hurt again, she should end her season (and career?) as the top-ranked player for the second time.

2. Amelie Mauresmo: Terrific win over Svetlana Kuznetsova in the Filderstadt semis and then yet another injury befalls her in a key match. Few players are as snake bitten as the Frenchwoman.

3. Svetlana Kuznetsova: Still perhaps a year away from consistently playing her best tennis, the US Open champ couldn't consolidate against Mauresmo. However, she has a tremendous chance to pass countrywoman Myskina as the Russian No. 1 this week in Moscow.

4. Anastasia Myskina: Decent week in Filderstadt and then loses her ninth and 10th sets in a row to Davenport. No player can have a serious shot at the top if another elite competitor is her "mama." Seems to be imitating Pedro Martinez's attitude toward the Yankees.

5. Maria Sharapova: Did what she needed to in winning Tokyo over a sorry field and solidifying her grasp on the eight spot for the Championships. If she plays decently in Zurich next week, this Wimbledon champ should pass Serena for No. 7.
.
6. Mashona Washington: Terrific achievement to reach Tokyo final at age 28, but her wipeout at the hands of Sharapova in the final is nothing for the American to write home about.

7. Jelena Jankovic: The Serb has quietly had a terrific year and showed in upending Petrova and Hantuchova in Germany that she has the firepower and willpower to crack the Top 20.

8. Elena Likhovtseva: A fine year for the Russian veteran with a final round appearance in Montreal and then upsets of Zvonareva and Pierce in Filderstadt.

9. Lisa Raymond: Significant toppling of Elena Dementieva and then a follow-up win over Silvia Farina-Elia indicates that she's not dead yet in singles.

10. Tamarine Tanasugarn: The Thai could have put a better fight against Sharapova in the Tokyo semis, but at least she's doing better than Paradorn.

Looks like ZDT did a current/future best list.
I like Timothy's answers better.

Chris Evert
Billie Jean King
Lindsay Davenport
Monica Seles
Martina Hingis
Amelie mauresmo
Serena Wiliams
Venus Williams

Just my two cents. I've got a soft spot for the classic, and power-hitting women. =)
