A true democracy is a fabulous concept, but it would never happen. In order for democracy to work, people must have all of the facts in hand and be able to vote based upon those facts. Our government is based on covering facts and keeping things from us poor, ignorant American slobs for our own good (not my opinion, but that's how it goes). Just take a good look at the latest campain ads. We can't even get a straight answer out of people at the lowest levels of government, let alone the really big issues.

democracy will not save the union but a true republic will and only will if the citizens get involved at all levels of our government beginning at the lowest levels. To be an involved citizen means more than just voting.

A Democracy is a great idea in theory, but it would require all people to know the ins and outs of the government. Whenever a law is passed, it would be up to all the people to understand exacly what the law means and vote on it. It would also require us to vote on every little thing. I for one prefer to have people do that for me, even if I don't agree with them.

Democracy means that everyone eventually must at some point serve as a representative. So would you like to wake up one day and find out your are represented by:
Senator Rush Limbaugh?
Senator Barbara Streisand?
Congressman Pee Wee Herman?
Congresswoman Ruanwaybride?

We aren't either one. We have been, are, and will continue to be a judicial oligarchy.
